top
13. What do I need to do to make certain I get a GPS signal?
A GPS signal can be received anywhere on the face of the earth with a clear view of the sky. However mapping and routing functions are dependent on having maps that cover the area of interest.
top
14. What is dynamic routing?
Dynamic routing is the calculation required to determine the drive movements necessary to arrive at a destination. The digital maps used in the GPS Navigation System contain street information such as turn restrictions, one-way direction and speed limits that allows the software to accurately provide driving directions.
top
15. Can I select the type of roads that will route me to my destination?
Yes, you can choose your preferred route options by selecting Quickest (for the shortest drive time), Shortest (for the shortest distance), Major (to utilize major highways and interstates), or Local (for avoiding major highways and interstates).
top
16. What kind of Points of Interest are available?
You can select from the following Points of Interests: Airport, Bank/ATM, Entertainment, Gas Station, Emergency, Hotel/Motel, Parking and Restaurants. The first time the GPS receiver is used it takes approximately 5 minutes to acquire a fix (but may take as long as 15 minutes). Once initialized, the unit should acquire satellite signals in 90 seconds or less in the future. When the GPS unit is first initialized it can take several minutes for the receiver to locate the satellites in orbit. Be sure that the GPS receiver has an unobstructed view of the sky. Trees, buildings, and other obstacles are capable of blocking the satellite signal. Also make sure to have the time and date properly set on your Pocket PC.
