In the past year, the navigation system map has been updated to include new roads and subdivisions and hundreds of new and updated points of interest including hotels, restaurants and gas stations. The map coverage area includes the 48 Contiguous United States, Hawaii and the border region of Canada. 1.		How does the navigation system work? The Honda Navigation System receives signals from Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites and sophisticated vehicle sensors. A powerful computer then analyzes this data to pinpoint precisely the vehicle's location. In addition, the navigation system's DVD contains an immense database of maps, plus millions of points of special interest (POI). Back to top

2.		Can I play DVD movies or audio CDs with my navigation system? No. Your navigational system was designed to provide navigational assistance only. However your audio CD slot can be used to play CDs, and CD-R’s containing MP3 and WMA files. Back to top

3.		Is the navigation system available in any other language? No. The U.S. navigation system is only available in English. Back to top

4.		Can I use a different mapping database in my navigation system? No. The system is not designed for other navigation programs or databases. Back to top

5.		Can my navigation system provide coverage for Alaska or Hawaii? Coverage for Hawaii is available for all 09 and newer Honda models. There is no coverage for Alaska at this time by the system. Back to top

6.		Can my navigation system provide coverage for Mexico or Canada ? Coverage for Canada includes all major metropolitan cities and interconnecting roads within approximately 100 miles of the U.S.-Canada border. A complete listing of Canadian coverage is available online at: www.hondanavi.com. If coverage for northern Canada is required, a green-labeled "Canada" DVD is available. To purchase this edition, contact the Honda DVD Fulfillment Center at 1-888-291-4675. Coverage for Mexico is not provided by the system. 7.		Occasionally, I see white dots on the screen. Is something wrong with my navigation system? No. Your system is operating properly. The white dots you see are off-road tracking dots that illustrate your path when driving off of a mapped road. Also known as the "breadcrumbs", these dots allow you to later retrace the route back to a mapped road. They can be turned on or off at the "Setup" screen under "Track Off-Road Position." 8.		How do I hide or display map icons? The system allows you to hide or display most icons, including ATMs, gas stations and restaurants. To do this, select "Icon Bar," then choose the icons you wish to display or hide. If using voice commands, say "hide gas station" or "display gas station" to hide or display the icons you want to see on the screen. Note: Some icons cannot be hidden. These include Honda dealers. 9.		The navi is not switching Daylight Savings Time correctly anymore (in March/November), or the navi is still switching the time using the old April/October daylight savings schedule. What's wrong? A new software version will be available soon that can be loaded by your dealer to change the navi's old Daylight Savings Time schedule to the new March/November schedule. Back to top

10.		What map coverage does my navigation system provide? The system provides coverage for verified and unverified roads within the 48 contiguous United States. Coverage for Canada includes all verified major metropolitan cities and interconnecting roads within approximately 100 miles of the U.S.-Canada border. Back to top

11.		What is meant by verified and unverified roads? Verified roads have been thoroughly researched and accurately mapped. Shown as dark colors on the display, they include roads in all major metropolitan areas and the main roads connecting them to smaller cities. Verified information for metro-area streets includes posted speed limits, one-way streets, addresses, etc. Unverified roads have been less accurately mapped. Shown as light brown on the display, they include most of the smaller cities and rural areas of the continental U.S. Navigation information on these roads may be less detailed. For example, the street information may lack posted speed limits, whether a street is one-way or not, some address information, etc. Back to top

12.		When using my navigation system, why aren't all roads named? In verified metropolitan areas (dark-colored streets), most roads are named. Occasional errors may result from name changes, street closures or the addition of new roads that have not yet been included in the database. These streets have not been verified by the database vendor. The system does not contain information on one-way streets, turn restrictions, or the road’s average speed. They are shown on the map for reference and can have errors in map location, naming, and address range. Back to top

13.		Can my navigation system provide routing information for addresses or places in unverified areas? Yes. The driver can choose between a blue-dotted "vector line" that points toward the address or destination, or full navigation routing that includes cautions. 22.		What is the fastest, easiest way to find an address? When using voice commands to locate an address, say the city first, then the street. When using the keyboard to locate an address, enter the state first—this will reduce the number of selections to choose from—then enter the city and street name. The menu option "Map Input" can also be used to find a city, by jogging the joystick to select the address. And also remember that some cities may not be included within a larger metropolitan area. 23.		How do I delete addresses? If the address is in your "Previous Destinations" list, go to the "Setup" screen, select "More," then, under "Edit Personal Information," select "Previous Destinations." You can either delete individual addresses, or delete all previous destinations by selecting "Delete All". Note: If you accidentally delete all addresses, touch "Cancel" (before exiting the screen) to restore them. If the address is in your "Personal Address" list, go to "Setup," select "More," then select "Edit Personal Information." Select the "Address" button, (and choose User 1 or User 2, if displayed), then enter the PIN (if used). Find the address you wish to delete, view the address information, then touch the "Delete" button. Repeat as necessary for other addresses (there is no method to remove all personal addresses with one command). The system can hold up to 50 previous destinations and will automatically delete the oldest entry as each new destination is entered. 24.		What functions can the Voice-Activated Command System control? Most navigation, audio and climate control system functions can be controlled using voice commands. The voice control system is activated using the "Talk" button. Once the system's microphone picks up your command, the display automatically changes in response to the command, and then prompts you for the next command. As the system offers a multitude of voice-activated functions, please refer to your navigation system owner's manual for complete details and for a glossary of all voice commands. Back to top

26.		Sometimes the system does not properly recognize a spoken command. What can I do to improve the system's performance? Make sure the correct screen is displayed for the voice command you are using. For complete details, refer to the Voice Command Index in your navigation system owner's manual. Suggestions to improve recognition: Close the windows and the sunroof. Set the fan speed to "low" (1 or 2). Adjust the airflow from the dashboard center and side vents so they do not blow against the microphone on the ceiling. After pressing the navigation “Talk” button wait for the beep, then give a voice command. Enunciate clearly. Give the command in a natural speaking voice without pausing between words. If the system still does not recognize your command, speak louder to compensate for the presence of road noise. Back to top

27.		When will the next DVD update be available? Purchase of an update DVD is optional and not required for continued operation of your navigation system. However, update DVDs offer a wealth of features and new information you may find helpful. Back to top

28.		How often do I need to purchase an updated navigation-system DVD disc? Your system is current and an update DVD is not available. However, if your system disc is ever lost, stolen or damaged, a replacement DVD disc may be purchased through the Honda DVD Fulfillment Center. Back to top

30.		How can I tell which navigation system DVD version I am currently using? The version number is on the DVD inside your navigation-system unit. To obtain this number, carefully remove the DVD, and note the version number (Ver: x.xx) near the bottom of the DVD label.
